Some cool events happening next week!


SUS GreenWeek 2013

"Since 2006, the Science Undergraduate Society Environment Committee has organized GreenWeek to increase students' awareness and consciousness of the environment. GreenWeek is a week of student-run workshops, events and activities that are both entertaining and informative, but mainly geared towards promoting a culture of sustainability. This year, GreenWeek will take place during the week of March 18th – 22nd, 2013."

Seed Bomb Making with Campus Crops

2:30 pm in room B29 (Basement of the SSMU building, 3480 rue McTavish)


Description: "No time for planting your favorite native flowers? Tired of all those vacant lots not being put to better use? Learn how to make seed bombs using only clay, compost, seeds and water, and start sowing seeds without effort at home or anywhere you want! Great for quick, "no-work" seed-sowing of vigorous plants for the embellishment of public and private spaces (not necessarily your own)! Slingshot not included."

Make Your Own Bread with Adrian (our very own MK cooking coordinator!)

3:00 pm in the Midnight Kitchen (3rd floor of the SSMU building, 3480 rue McTavish)


Description: "Hi all, we will be baking from scratch a batch of bread! And I am sure enjoying more than a bit of it afterwards.

This will be a bit of a longer workshop but I am sure you will enjoy the results."

Challenging Fatphobia with Nathalie Cohen

1 pm at the 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy (1500 de Maisonneuve W suite 404)


Description: This workshop is designed to teach participants about the meaning of fatphobia - the oppression of, discrimination against and prejudices about fat people based on their size – understand how they themselves, no matter their actual body size, may have been affected by fatphobia, and challenge social and health-related myths about fatness and fat people.
